Innovating in wood 1: A look into the past

This is an introduction to traditional carpentry and to the carpenter’s trade, which has been almost lost as a result of mechanisation and the division of labour.

We will learn about local woods, traditional tools, furniture and its different types of finishes.

This knowledge will be applied to the manual manufacture of a traditional chair.

Duration: 24 hours to be distributed according to each group of a maximum of ten people.

Innovating in wood 2: A vision of the future

Using traditional techniques, we design and build a functional and beautiful object that is not possible to manufacture a priori with industrial machinery.

It includes the observation and study of the techniques used in different types of designs.

The sketching of a given object according to structural, functional and aesthetic possibilities and the making of this design with wood.

Duration: 60 hours to be distributed according to each group, of a maximum of six people.
